We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Part-Time Medical File Clerk to join our clients law firm's on their medical team. In this role, you will assist in managing and organizing medical records related to personal injury, workers' compensation, and other legal cases. You will work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and other team members to ensure that medical records are accurately maintained, filed, and easily accessible for legal purposes. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a commitment to confidentiality, and the ability to work effectively in a legal setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize, maintain, and manage medical records associated with legal cases, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and filed appropriately.
- Retrieve medical records from various healthcare providers and ensure timely and accurate documentation for ongoing legal cases.
- Assist with scanning, digitizing, and archiving medical records for electronic storage.
- Ensure that all medical documents are handled in compliance with relevant privacy laws, including HIPAA and any applicable legal regulations.
- Create and maintain filing systems (physical and electronic) for medical records, ensuring quick access and retrieval when needed.
- Support the medical team by preparing case files with required medical documentation and ensuring all records are up to date.
- Assist with other administrative tasks such as data entry, managing medical record requests, and communication with healthcare providers or clients as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a legal setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, legal processes, and confidentiality requirements (HIPAA) is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency in computer applications (e.g., MS Office, case management software, electronic medical record systems).
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced legal environment.
Work Schedule:
- Part-time position with flexible hours, typically 15-25 hours per week.
